Phone Overheating Repair in Manchester
A phone that runs hot is telling you something, and it is usually the battery, a background software fault or a blocked thermal path. Diagnosis is free and most causes are inexpensive to fix.
Signs You Have This Problem
Warm during gaming or fast charging is normal. These are the patterns that are not.
Hot while doing nothing
Heat with the screen off and no apps open points to a rogue background process or a failing battery rather than normal load.
Very hot on charge
Rising internal resistance in a worn cell turns charging energy into heat. This one is worth acting on quickly.
Temperature warning or forced shutdown
The phone is protecting itself. Repeated warnings mean something is genuinely wrong, not just a warm day.
Throttling, lag and rapid battery drain together
Heat and battery drain almost always share a root cause, so treating them as one problem gets you a faster answer.
What Causes It
Three things cause most overheating we see. The first is an ageing battery, where internal resistance climbs and the cell simply produces more heat for the same work. The second is software, whether an app stuck in a loop, a failed update, or a sync process endlessly retrying, and this shows up as a phone that is hot but idle. The third is physical, meaning a blocked thermal path from a swollen battery, a badly fitted previous repair with the thermal pads left out, or in the case of consoles and laptops, dust and dried thermal paste. Charging in direct sun or gaming while charging makes all three worse but is rarely the whole story on its own.
How We Fix It
The diagnostic is free. If it turns out to be the battery, replacements start from £25 fitted.
We measure where the heat is actually coming from rather than assuming, checking battery health and charge behaviour under load, looking for processes pinning the processor, and inspecting for a swollen cell or missing thermal material from an earlier repair. If a previous repair elsewhere left thermal pads out, we put that right. You get a clear explanation of the cause and a fixed price before anything is done, and if it turns out to be a simple software fix we will tell you rather than selling you parts.
