What Causes It

Every lithium-ion battery is consumable. A typical phone battery is rated for roughly 500 full charge cycles before it drops to around 80 percent of its original capacity, which most people reach somewhere between the second and third year. Heat is the other big factor, so leaving a phone on a car dashboard in summer, gaming while it charges, or keeping it plugged in at 100 percent all age the cell faster. My phone is swollen. Is that dangerous?

Yes, treat it seriously. Stop charging it, avoid pressing the screen, and contact us straight away. A swollen cell can rupture. We handle these safely and it is a routine repair for us.

Do you keep my data?
