Phone Not Turning On in Manchester

A phone that will not power on is not necessarily a dead phone. It is often a battery, a charging port or a software fault rather than anything terminal. Our diagnostic is free and you only pay if we fix it.

Signs You Have This Problem

The exact symptom tells us a lot about where the fault sits, so it is worth noticing which of these matches yours.

Completely black, no response at all

Usually a fully drained or failed battery, or a power circuit fault. Frequently repairable and often inexpensive.

Logo appears then disappears, over and over

A boot loop, which normally points to software or storage rather than a hardware failure.

Screen stays black but the phone vibrates or makes sound

The phone is alive and running. This is usually a display or display-connector fault, which is a much smaller job than it looks.

Only shows a battery or cable symbol

Deeply discharged. Sometimes a proper charge on the bench brings it straight back, sometimes the battery will no longer take a charge at all.

What Causes It

The causes range from the trivial to the serious, which is exactly why guessing is expensive. A battery that has aged past the point of holding any usable charge is the most common single cause we see. After that come charging port failures that have quietly starved the phone, software or storage corruption after a failed update, display connectors shaken loose by a drop, and, less often, genuine power management faults on the board. Liquid exposure at some point in the phone history sits behind a good proportion of the board-level cases.

How We Fix It

The diagnostic is free and we quote before any work starts. If we cannot fix it, you pay nothing.

We do not guess. The phone goes on a bench power supply, which tells us immediately whether it is drawing current and how much, and that single measurement narrows the fault down enormously before anything is opened. From there we work through battery, charging circuit, display connection and software in order of likelihood. You get one honest quote covering what we actually found, and the choice of whether to go ahead. If the phone turns out to be beyond economic repair we will tell you that straight, and we can still attempt data recovery so your photos are not lost with the handset.

Phone Not Turning On FAQs

Is a phone that will not turn on worth repairing?
Very often, yes. The most common causes are batteries and charging ports, both of which are inexpensive repairs. It is worth a free diagnostic before writing the phone off.
Can you get my data off it even if it cannot be fixed?
In many cases yes. Tell us when you book that the data matters most and we will prioritise recovery over repair.
How long before you know what is wrong?
Usually within the first hour on the bench. We contact you with the diagnosis and a fixed price before doing anything.
I spilled something on it and now it is dead. Same thing?
Related but different, and time-critical. See our water damage page and get it to us as soon as you can rather than waiting.
